A World War II veteran is competing in the compound flights at the Vegas Shoot for the third time – at the age of 103. Charles Johnson is a veteran of the military, but not the sport: he has been shooting archery for 'only' seven years, having been introduced to it by some golfing friends. "I'm enjoying myself, you know what I mean? And that's good. Meeting people, you know. That's what's I'm enjoying." A late-starter to the sport, by some measure, Johnson was attending with his wife. "I don't know too much about Vegas. I like to just come here for archery. And people remember me. That's very encouraging, you know. I love people.
